KFJ Vienna – a patient-oriented hospital
The hospital is located in a district with a migrant population of about 25,000.
Many of our patients are originally from Turkey or countries that were previously part of Yugoslavia.
Our medical and nursing staff is multicultural as well. Efforts to decrease
problems caused by language and intercultural differences have been made
in the past – e.g., by employing a Turkish community interpreter. Several
departments are already closely cooperating with FEM, a Women's Health
Centre that focusses on the needs of women migrants. KFJ wants to take on a leading role
in developing strategies and programmes to improve services covering the
special needs of migrant patients.
